AnnaLee Saxenian's research asks how institutions and social structures shape patterns of information exchange, and the consequences for economic development and innovation. She is currently examining the consequence of the shift from brain drain to brain circulation for global patterns of technology development, with a focus on Silicon Valley's skilled immigrants. These patterns are helping to shape a new landscape in how technology services are distributed, produced, and organized globally.
