Making the most of Open Educational Resources
Instructors are always looking for good materials to integrate into their instruction, and there are now several rich bodies of freely accessible Open Educational Resources (OER) to draw from. However, many educators do not know where that such high quality free content exists, nor do they have to tools to easily include these materials in their classes. This project looks at how to integrate OERs into the workflow of instructors. We will explore ways of recommending relevant OERs towards instructors based on what they ask for and what they are producing. Some challenges include:
- How to figure out what OERs are relevant to an instructor
- How to make OER repositories work well with course management systems
- Ways we can improve data organization and to enhance interoperability and relevance
Raymond Yee, an ISD Program affiliate and highly accomplished developer of scholarly communications systems, will help guide this project.
